Chronic pain is rarely just about the area that hu Chronic pain is rarely just about the area that hurts.

In many cases, the nervous system plays a significant role in how pain is experienced and maintained over time.

Pain is not only a physical sensation - it’s a signal that is processed by the brain and influenced by your nervous system. When the body has been under ongoing stress, or pain has been present for a long period of time, this system can become more sensitive. This means pain can feel more intense, more persistent, or easier to trigger - even when there is no clear ongoing injury.

This doesn’t make your pain any less real.
It simply means there is more to the picture.

From a naturopathic perspective, this is where a broader, multi-system approach becomes important. Supporting the nervous system - alongside the physical body - can help reduce reactivity, improve resilience and create the conditions for more sustainable change over time.

If this feels like something you’ve been navigating, you’re welcome to explore support via the link in bio.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛 Endometr March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛

Endometriosis is more than “just painful periods.” It is a complex and often misunderstood condition that affects 1 in 9 women in Australia.

Common symptoms can include:
💛 Heavy or irregular periods
💛 Severe or worsening period pain
💛 Pain during or after intercourse
💛 Chronic pelvic or lower back pain
💛 Painful bowel movements or urination (especially during your period)
💛 Pain around or at ovulation
💛 Bloating or “endo belly”
💛 Fatigue
💛 Difficulty falling pregnant

Because many of these symptoms are often dismissed as “normal,” it can take years to receive a diagnosis. If something doesn’t feel right in your body, you deserve to be heard and supported.

This Endometriosis Awareness Month, we’re helping raise awareness so more people can recognise the signs and seek the care they deserve.

If you’re experiencing symptoms or want to learn more about how we can support you, reach out to our team at Freyja Health. We would love to support you 💛

Being told you have an ovarian cyst can feel unset Being told you have an ovarian cyst can feel unsettling - but not every cyst represents pathology.

Some reflect normal ovulatory physiology. Others signal that something within the broader hormonal, metabolic, or inflammatory landscape may need attention.

The key distinction isn’t simply whether a cyst is present - it’s understanding the type, the clinical context, and the systems influencing ovarian function.

Recurrent cysts, persistent pelvic discomfort, or cycle disruption warrant thoughtful assessment. They are rarely random, and they’re rarely isolated.

Ovarian physiology does not operate in isolation. Hormonal signalling, ovulation quality, metabolic regulation, inflammatory load, and nervous system balance all interact.

When we understand those drivers, care becomes clearer - and far more targeted.

Acupuncture works via the nervous system to influe Acupuncture works via the nervous system to influence hormonal signaling and pelvic circulation — two integral components in ovarian and menstrual health.

Hormones don’t operate in isolation - smooth Qi and blood flow alongside nervous system health have a powerful impact too ✨
